Pile testing in Hanover

Load testing and integrity testing for Hanover and southern Lower Saxony. Own measurement technology, test force up to 40,000 kN, travel distance about 2.5 hours from Gotha.

Ground conditions

What Hanover is founded on.

Boulder clay and meltwater sands of the Saale glaciation, underlain by mesozoic marl and clay, locally salt domes with leaching phenomena. Sand and marl alternate over short distances.

What happens without testing

A pile in boulder clay carries differently from one in the sand next to it, even though both are the same length. Without testing the difference only becomes visible once the structure settles unevenly.

Untested foundations are not a cost risk, they are a structural stability risk. Differential settlement, cracking and re-foundation cost many times the price of testing.

Typical construction tasks: Trade fair, industrial and logistics construction, transport structures, wind energy in the surrounding area.

Methods

Three methods, one decision.

In Hanover and southern Lower Saxony the ground often leads to dynamic load test. We make the final choice based on the ground report and pile concept, not on instinct.

Dynamic load test in Hanover

Bearing capacity of several piles within one day, evaluated per CAPWAP. The method per DIN EN ISO 22477-4 delivers shaft friction and base resistance separately and fits where the construction schedule does not allow a week of setup.

Drop weight up to 12 t, evaluation per CAPWAP

Static load test in Hanover

The direct proof per DIN EN ISO 22477-1. The load-settlement line shows the real load behaviour under sustained load, up to 40,000 kN test force. Basis for foundation optimisation and for any disputed proof.

Up to 40,000 kN, own loading platform and beam system

Integrity test in Hanover

Test of construction quality: length, cross-section, necking, defects. Low-strain from the pile head for the whole site, cross-hole between measuring tubes for the core of large bored piles.

Low-strain and cross-hole, large quantities
